Judy:  I can only say this about those salaries:  THEY ARE OBSCENE!   Wow!  Yes, the people of Geauga County need to wake up because to sustain those kinds of grotesque salaries, the county sales tax will very shortly have to be 10% and that will KILL retail sales...  Remember that the salaries are only the BEGINNING of costs for retaining these employees - think of the HUGE benefits, retirement matches, perks, bonuses, over-time, special events, etc. they have to pay them!  They sure are taking these taxpayers for a ride... Yes, when are the sheep going to wake up? 

     I have this question as well:  How many services does this county REALLY NEED?  And two, why aren't these departments being cut back?   $96,000 cops, $83,000 teachers, a guy working in the park "free" park system of bike trails and nature trails making over $100,000?  SOMETHING IS, BY GOD, BROKEN.  This is just flat WRONG.  Do we need to treat people who chose a lifestyle of reckless behavior with booze and drugs on the taxpayers' dime?  I think not.  Do we need places where senior citizens can go and socialize?  I think not.  These are luxuries!  And with a deficit, why would they be retained? 

     Look at it this way:  Let's say a library gets less funding from the county.  Instead of boo-hooing, start CUTTING SERVICES.  For example, a collection of cheap entertainment videos/DVD's have NOTHING to do with reading (in acually they are the OPPOSITE of reading!), so why are they being retained.  CUT STAFF.  Cut the hours.  It's really simple.  Instead of shaking down the over-burdened taxpayer, THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX AND REINVENT YOURSELF.  It's simple and reasonable.   

     Pretty soon no one will be working in the private sector any longer - can't afford to - they will be working only for the government!  WHY would the county commissioners let the county government get this fat and bloated?  I just don't understand it...  I don't blame just the three stooges in there now, but the idiots who were in there in the 1980's and 1990's as well because the bloatedness started there and morphed into the Frankenstein it is now.  

     The only solution is MASSIVE CUTS, employees shouldering the burden of the vast majority of their benefits, cutting perks like "Fat Farms", pay freezes, etc.  After looking at that list of the obscene salaries, now I KNOW why they the workers of this county didn't boo-hoo much when they got a pay freeze!  Even frozen for years they are doing better than 98% of the very people they are SUPPOSED to be serving!  Oh the horror...  Oh the horror...
