Scott:
Just read in the Geauga Times Courier that the Burton Village Council thinks it's tax paying merchants should take their business elsewhere.
They don't seem to like the idea that a business should be seeing customers. Great bunch of brain dead council members you have there.
Why don't the merchants just cut the damn trees down? There are enough trees in Geauga County and the Burton Park. Don't understand why the merchants even put up with such stupidity. I travel for a living and I know what it is like to try to find a business in a strange town, it can be very frustrating when zoning laws prevent sign that can be read from the street. Of course your so-called Village Council knows where the business are so they see know reason to believe that the signs should be seen.

Dave: Yes, I just read that Courier front page story about how Matt Merarchik, owner of Geauga Power Sports was treated up at the village council meeting Monday night. I agree: He should just get the saw out for the sake of his business... Of course...
I laughed so hard I almost booted my supper when I read this line from the Courier story - councilman Gerald Rouge "lecturing" Merarchik like he's a bad school boy: "...the three months here, you've caused nothing but heartache..." Heartache? Hmmm... Hey Rouge would "heartache" in this town be BEST defined as when YOUR DAUGHTER RIPPED OFF THE VILLAGE OF BURTON FOR A COOL $150,000 a couple of years back or would "heartache" in this town be better defined about the time YOUR OTHER DAUGHTER slugged a man back over a couch and cleared Duffy's Tavern one hot summer night requiring FOUR law enforcement officers to calm her down and escort her out? Hmmm... Answer: Choose either "A" or "B" or "all of the above... Oh the horror, oh the horror...
As the old saying goes old man Rouge should be cleaning up his OWN glass house before he lobs bricks at Matt... Then old man Rouge suggests in the meeting that Matt take his business to a "strip mall where his sign would be more visible". Whoa! Stop the presses! Did a village councilman REALLY tell a Main Street business to "get out of town"? This is the same idiot who would complain and whine and cry if the budget took the slightest hit or the moron who would decry any vacant Main Street business! Oh boy...
Nothing that old man Rouge says would surprise me... He's a vile old boy... All sound and fury resulting in NOTHING. NADA. Then old man Rouge goes on and "lectures" Matt that perhaps the "blame" lies with his "business plan". Pardon me, but what thriving business does old man Rouge own in Burton? Ha!
Enough of Rouge, he's a total embarrassment to all... The person whom I am most surprised to hear from in the controversy is Craig Ronyak. Now here's a guy who is involved with one of the most successful businesses in town - Ronyak Paving. And if you drive by their main sign - surprise! - THERE ARE NO BRANCHES IN FRONT OF IT! And when you see their big trucks rumble by - suprise! - THERE ARE NO OBSTRUCTIONS TO THEIR "1-800-PAVENOW" logos on the sides of the truck. NOW HERE'S A BUSINESSMAN WHO KNOWS HOW TO ATTRACT ATTENTION TO HIS SERVICES - HE KEEPS OBSTRUCTIONS AWAY FROM NOT ONLY THEIR MAIN BUSINESS SIGN IN TOWN, BUT MAKES SURE HIS TRUCKS ARE CLEAN SO HE CAN ADVERTISE WHILE THEY ROLL DOWN THE ROAD! Surprise! Folks, it ain't rocket science - if the customers can't find you, if the customers can't burn your name or your logo or your business motto into their minds in this cluttered world, THEN THEY AIN'T GONNA DO BIZ WITH YA! Period. End of story.
Now Craig knows that and practices that, but did NOT come to the rescue of Matt and left him dangling... Hmmmm... I can't understand that... Instead Craig sided with the wimpy looking locust trees... What a mistake those trees are...
WHO was it who screwed up and chose such a crappy tree to begin with? That person ought to come forward and DEFEND them. They're hiding somewhere. Meanwhile Matt has to endure his sign being covered... Get the chain saw out!
