New Venue Helps Athletes Earn 2015 Competition Rights at Fall Selection
Corey Cogdell-Unrein earned her spot for the first three World Cup matches in 2015 by virtue of winning three of the four finals events and earning two of the four high qualification marks at Shotgun Fall Selection.
How do you celebrate a historical season? Well, if you’re USA Shooting’s Shotgun Program, you gather everyone up, head to a new range to do some more shooting and make it mean something. USA Shooting’s Fall Selection Match unveiled a new international shotgun range located at the Delta Resort and Spa in Tillar, Arkansas, and the stakes couldn’t have been higher.
World Cup selection was on the line for all competitors with 15 athletes named at the conclusion of the match to the first three World Cup events in 2015. Additionally, the event marked the first of a two-stage process for Pan American and World Championship selection also in 2015. The event propelled two-time Olympian Corey Cogdell-Unrein back into the fold in women’s trap after missing World Cup and World Champions action this past year while also welcoming relative newcomers like Derek Haldeman (Double Trap) and Kimberley Bowers (trap) to the mix of ever-increasing depth within USA Shooting’s shotgun program.
