Gotta Love That Kid Rock - Check Out His Massive Mountain Lion! Uncle Ted Jumps To His Defense As The Anti-Hunters Set Up A Wail
Kid Rock is in hot water with animal rights activists after he posed for a photo with a cougar he'd presumably killed.
The singer went hunting last week with fellow Michigan native and firearm enthusiast Ted Nugent, who shared a picture of their quarry on his Facebook account.
Nugent, a longtime board member of the National Rifle Association, lit the blue touch paper with a comment that both insulted animal welfare supporters ("braindead squawkers") and boasted about their "trophy."
He wrote, "And what a grand conservation New Year it is! HAIL my MotorCity boy KidRock for saving all those muledeer elk & livestock by whacking this magnificent mountain lion. I can hear the braindead squawkers already with their obscene denial that killing lions is wrong. Its legal its necessary its good its beneficial its a damn riot! And these lovely pigwhackers did same on the TX swine while young Rachael Byrd arrowed this fine Oryx with the Bruce Cull tribe! Praise the mighty life giving renewable protein/sport/trophy/FUN! 2015 be good good year so far!"
A flood of negative comments followed, while one Facebook user reposted the picture with the caption, "Shame On You."
If there's still truth in the old adage that all publicity is good, then Kid Rock will feel he's doing solid business. A new album First Kiss, the follow up 2012's Rebel Soul, is due out next month via Warner Bros. Records. He'll support the release with a tour this year.
Kid Rock hasn't addressed the controversial photo via his social networking accounts. No surprise there. In an op-ed for The Guardian, he recently admitted, "I don't FaceTweet or whatever people do. I understand that I'm the old guy now. I turn on my computer and look at porn a little bit, see what's going on in the news, but that's about it. I'm comfortable with that."
In the same article, he had this to say on guns: "I'm always buying more guns. I have everything from a Civil War cannon to an MP5 machine gun and old police guns. If someone invades your house, yeah, you can shoot them. I don't think crazy people should have guns."
