Take 2 aspirin & call your lawyer in the am
Posted By: Scott Weber 05/14/2012 @ 12:05 PM

Scott:

Correct me if I'm wrong.......but as I sit in my living room @ 4am...  The drillers are working on property across from our home!!!!   I can't sleep with the loud noises through the entire neighborhood.   I don't know if they are drilling or if it's a pump running an unsupervised fracking pump, but I can tell you this, IT IS LOUD, AND IT'S PISSING ME OFF!!!!   It's insane that some type of operation can run 24/7 in a residential neighborhood.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for using our local natural rescourses, just not @ 4 in the morning.   For Christ's sake ...

Are you a gun addict? Take this test!
Posted By: Scott Weber 05/10/2012 @ 08:17 AM

Come on now... Are you a gun addict? Really?

Please take a moment to answer Dr. Gunrunner's simple 11-question test to find out if you're addicted:

1.  Do you bring gun magazines/books to work and sneak looks at them throughout the day? Do you bid on online gun auctions on your office computer?

2.  Have you ever uttered this phrase before to your wife: "But Honey, this gun only cost $250 and it was such a deal I couldn't pass it up..." and have you ever been known to say: "But Honey, no gun in my extensive collection ever cost more than $300..."

3.  ...

The Geauga County 'Free-Ride' Is Over!
Posted By: Scott Weber 05/09/2012 @ 06:19 PM

Blog-Readers:  The letter below is in response to a letter written by a Lee Stafford in one of the weekly Geauga County newspapers last week concerning the writer below.  I must say I agree with her wholeheartedly.  Why give a man a fish when you can teach him to fish and keep him fishing?  I believe it is time to stop enabling people to fail.  Enabling a person to fail by giving them "free stuff" is not the American way!

Dear Editor,

Non-Contributors should be concerned, the free ride is over.

The Swamp House Invasion By "Batzilla"
Posted By: Scott Weber 05/06/2012 @ 11:14 AM
Last night I was sitting in the easy chair of my swamp house about midnight (long day at work getting an auction ready) watching the climax of "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" (she takes the art of tattoo to a whole new dimension... Oh boy...) and what happens?  I'm at the edge of my seat with the movie when damn if the biggest bat I've ever seen in my life flies into my living room (this wasn't no goddamn "little brown bat", this was "batzilla" with a wingspread just short of the sometime endangered California Condor!).    The big devil zigged across the big screen and buzzed ...

Lynch's Abortion Vote, Village Demos, Garden Party
Posted By: Scott Weber 05/06/2012 @ 09:36 AM

Quick Burton News Bites:

Historical Demos:   Never forget our town's motto: "Burton, Where History Lives". Yeah... sure... If you are still onboard with this motto (and you surely should given the amount of structures in Burton Village that are on the National Register of Historical Places notwithstanding the Century Village with dozens of rescued historical homes/schools/sawmills/sheriff offices/libraries, etc.), then your historical antennas should be not only up in the air, but twittering like thunderation...
Why? The Ford Mansion's old horse barn/later garage went down to splinters ...

Letter From A Ranger About Rogers' Orders
Posted By: Scott Weber 05/03/2012 @ 07:50 AM

Mr. Weber, love the Blog - lets me know what's going on back home in Burton while I am away.    Couple corrections for you on the Standing Orders.   The corrections are highlighted.   They seem like minor changes, but if I was asked at Ranger School what the fourth rule was and got Ranger and Officer reversed my squad wouldn't be eating or sleeping that night - not that we did much of that anyways. Thanks for keeping us up to date with everything going on back home.

RANGERS LEAD THE WAY!
